The first professional baseball team from Nazareth, PA rose as a member of the new North Atlantic League in 1946. The Nazareth Cement Dusters dusted off most of the competition with a 78-40 record, second in the league behind the Peekskill Highlanders (6 games out of first). Outscoring other teams 773-560, the team was led on the hill by southpaw Ed March (16-5, 2.37, second in the NAL with 167 strikeouts). A balanced offense included C-OF Dewey Waugh (.347/~.375/.459), 1B-3B Stan Miasek (.304/~.409/.431), 3B-2B Stan Benjamin (.312/~.421/.457, 32 SB), OF Lou Percy (.360/~.449/.528) and OF John Vatza (.308/~.439/.440). The next season the team became the Nazareth Tigers.
