The original St. Louis Steamers played in the original Major Indoor Soccer League from 1979 through 1988. Their home turf was the St. Louis Arena. The Steamers best player was #30 Slobo Illjevski who won “Best Goalkeeper of the Year” for the 1981-1982 and 1983-1984 seasons.
