In 1914, Portland, Oregon became the first city in the United States...
to have a pro hockey team in the Portland Rosebuds. Ever since, Portland has had a on and off relationship with hockey. At one time Portland had the first U.S. team to compete for a Stanley Cup. At another time the city went nearly a decade without neither a team or an arena. In 1926 “The Buds” left The Rose City and headed east to Chicago to become the Blackhawks of the NHL.
